A christmas of hope!

Well as the curtain fell on the copenhagen summit, and the "hope" at hopenhagen reduces to a few drafts which Ban Ki Moon says is a "beginning" of a new consciousness, i still am optimistic that as an informed common man, i have the power to make things happen. And how?? By Toutatis!! I have a Christmas star which is lit by a CFL!(Thanks to my dad! AravindKnowledgix!) and i would like all the people who read this blog to follow suit, lets make it a cool christmas with all those stars gleaming with the light from a CFL. Merry Christmas!

P.S. Pardon my gaulish accent!

by Toutatis! I am gaulish again!!

"By Toutatis! the Gauls Asterix and Obelix are 50" As my eyes caught a glimpse of the headline in "Young World", I was 7 or 8 years old, sipping a cup of tea, in a ministers house, a friend of my mom's flipping through the pages of "Asterix in Spain", well the colours, Asterix, Obelix , dogmatix an Julius Caesar amazed me. I could not put it down and had myself looking back several times as we exited the house, thinking of the day when i owned one. I Guess over the years, i have lost my friends, Asterix and Obelix and the gaulish lot to the daily grind that has become my life. Once in a while when the words, gaul or "vital statistics" popped up, i did remember them, but... well then its not too late to say hi to your friends, is not it? So with the help of my friend googlix (hi hi), i set out to find the comix, in its ebookix form. I found the entire set!! at

I decided to blog this, after a full three hours of laughing till my eyes popped out. I am gaulish again!!. Hope you have fun!

Linux Love Affair!!

The first thing i did after college was to install linux, i was a techie ( a GNIIT professional from NIIT, can't believe that i am creative director today) then, anyways why did i do it, back then doing a dual boot ( having two OSes on the same system) with windows and linux was well, like scaling everest, configuring displays, drivers, hacking the kernel, setting up cross-platform networking, you just had to do it the old fashion way, by a keyboard!!, no clicks and clucks.

And at 30, i still carry an unrelenting passion for Linux, i still have a dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 8.10, and if you are up for a challenge, go ahead get a copy (it's free, just go to their site, order a CD, and you get it in 15 days!!). and try a dual boot ( well don't forget to backup your data), i promise you it will be fun, but learn the basics first!! important!!!. Instead of one desktop there are two desktop environments GNOME and KDE and more than a dozen themes to choose from. There is OpenOffice (equivalent to Windows Office) and GIMP (Adobe Photoshop). And over the years dual booting has become more easier!!

Reliance Netconnect blues on Windows 7 64 bit!

Well i hope this helps a few people with their problem in Windows 7 64 bit. I migrated recently to Windows 7 64 bit OS and have found its better than XP ( at last). Anyway i hit a roadblock, well my reliance netconnect card did not work ( the program from the Disk provided with the modem installed but it did not recognize the modem!!). So i went on a search on google and found a very useful link from which you can find the 64 bit drives need to make it work..

Just go to device manager,
Find the devices marked with the yellow exclamation mark and click "install" and point the installation to the extracted directory.

Hope this helps.
